On 13 January 2026 , the University Grants Commission (UGC) introduced a new regulatory framework titled “Promotion of Equity in Higher Education Institutions Regulations, 2026.” These regulations apply to all universities and colleges across India and aim to ensure equity, inclusion, and a discrimination-free academic environment.
